The winter season makes us all want to slick on ruby red, burgundy and other dark nail lacquers. Our fingertips may look pretty with those polishes on, but a lot of times when you remove these dark colors, nails are left brittle and with a very unflattering yellow stain.
So, how to get those stains out? I use abuela's at-home yellow stain remover with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. This combo is great at removing stains from just about everything, it can even help to whiten your teeth! I try this simple solution when my poor nails start looking haggard in the middle of winter! For this recipe, you'll need a half teaspoon of baking soda, a dash of hydrogen peroxide and 1/3 cup of water.
1.Add ½ a teaspoon of baking soda and about a dash of hydro peroxide to a 1/3 cup of water.
2.Soak your nails in the mixture for about 5 minutes.
3.Then dip a toothbrush into the mixture and brush and massage nails to thoroughly remove stains.
To prevent future stains, use a moisture-locking base coat before applying nail polish.
