Summer Smoky Eye

Bronze is the summer version of winter's black-and-silver smoky eye. See the glamazon effect it has on Diane Kruger — it softens her features and opens up her eyes but still has nighttime sex appeal. A plus is that you can easily wear this to the office — just tone down the mascara.

First, line your eyes with a brown pencil or liquid liner. To soften the look, try a bronze cream liner like the Tarte liner shown here.

Using the Clarins eye shadow quad as an example, sweep shade 4 over your lids. Next, take shade 2 and blend it into your crease. Apply shade 1 under your brow bone and in the corners of your eyes — this really opens up your eye. Use shade 3 for blending into the outer corner and along the lower lash line. Finish it off with a few coats of mascara.

Bright and Cheeky

The trick to pulling off a bright blush like tangerine or fuchsia is not about the right hue for you — it's the intensity at which you apply it, says makeup artist Dara Klein. Take a cue from Kate Beckinsale — her complexion allows her to amp up her cheek color more than a fair-skinned girl like Taylor Swift. So remember: The lighter your skin tone, the less blush you should apply.

A little goes a long way for this highly pigmented blush. The built-in swivel mirror is the perfect accompaniment.

Bright Liner

"Give your lower lash line the spotlight à la Rihanna by lining not only the lash line but also the inner rim," says Klein. "Wing it out slightly in the outer corner and gently smudge to a fuzzy, smoky line. Skip lining on top and instead coat lashes with mascara for a wide-eyed effect."

Use a shadow base either in a matte or crème formula to neutralize the lid, and shade bronzer in the crease of the eye with a fluffy brush to make eyes pop. Next, line eyes with a dark brown or black pencil to the inner upper and lower rim, which will enhance a more golden undertone to your eye color. Apply two coats of waterproof mascara.
