Using the Clarins eye shadow quad as an example, sweep shade 4 over your lids. Next, take shade 2 and blend it into your crease. The trick to pulling off a bright blush like tangerine or fuchsia is not about the right hue for you — it's the intensity at which you apply it, says makeup artist Dara Klein. Take a cue from Kate Beckinsale — her complexion allows her to amp up her cheek color more than a fair-skinned girl like Taylor Swift. So remember: The lighter your skin tone, the less blush you should apply.

Use a shadow base either in a matte or crème formula to neutralize the lid, and shade bronzer in the crease of the eye with a fluffy brush to make eyes pop. Next, line eyes with a dark brown or black pencil to the inner upper and lower rim, which will enhance a more golden undertone to your eye color. Apply two coats of waterproof mascara.
