That smoky eye you've been wearing since high school? It's time to give it a rest. Gem tones are a must for summer, with golds, greens, and metallic shades popping up on many A-list lids. See how to pull off this multi-colored trend without going too color crazy. Jemma Kidd, creator of JK Jemma Kidd tells you how.
"Shimmering metallic shades can work perfectly with a glowing complexion," says Kidd. To recreate this look, follow these steps below:
Sweep a light golden bronze eye shadow over the lids, working the color up towards your brow bone. Use a darker shade of bronze in the crease of the lid, blending the two shades seamlessly together with a fluffy brush.
Apply a dab of gold shimmer dust on the inner corner of your eye, near the tear duct, to open up the eyes and draw light in. Try JK Jemma Kidd Glitterati Shadow Dust Duo in Paparazzi ($18; target.com).
Take a green eyeliner pencil, such as JK Jemma Kidd I-Conic Eyes Pencil Liner in Drama Queen ($14; target.com), and apply underneath the bottom lashes on the outer corner of the upper lid for a pop of vibrant color. Blend out with a small brush to soften the effect.
For added drama, apply a set of false lashes, using a coat or two of mascara to blend them in with your natural lashes.
Finish the eyes with black liquid eyeliner like CoverGirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in Blackfire ($7.48; amazon.com), applying it more precisely along the upper lash line and lower waterline, winging it out slightly to create a more sultry, elongated eye shape.
