A double eyelid on Asian women can be a controversial subject for many, but when it comes down to it, the ultimate goal should be your happiness and self-confidence. Whether you're contemplating eyelid surgery and want to see how it looks or simply want a new look for your everyday life, you can create a natural-looking double lid on your beautiful Asian face with a few basic techniques.
Wash and dry: Wash your face, paying special attention to the eyes, so that you have clean, nonoily skin to work with. Gently dry the lids of your eyes with a cotton ball or cloth and wait a few minutes to allow your lids to dry completely.
Get sticky: Apply a thin line of eyelash glue (found at most beauty supply or cosmetic stores) about one-fourth to one-third of an inch above your lash line. It's best to apply the glue to the natural line of your eyeball for a more natural look. You can feel where the eye socket ends by feeling around with your finger tips. Koji's Eyetalk is a product made specifically for creating double eyelids on Asian women. Wait 30 to 60 seconds for the glue to dry, or until it becomes transparent, before moving on to the next step. This allows the glue to become tackier, which helps the crease stay put for a longer period of time.
Lift your lids: Push the double eyelid fork, usually called a "Y stick" that comes with the glue, in between the space where your eye ball meets your eye socket. If you can't find a "Y stick," consider fashioning a bobby pin into a Y shape to have the same effect. Do so with a gentle amount of pressure and hold the fork in place for 30 seconds to a minute. Slowly but firmly move the fork along the length of your eye to make sure that all areas of the top portion make contact with the lower portion of your lid. Gently release the fork and wait for five to 10 minutes before making any drastic eye movements, such as lifting your brows or blinking hard. This easy-to-create double eyelid will last throughout the day. Feel free to apply eye shadow, mascara, eyeliner, and other cosmetics to further enhance your eyes.
Wash off: To remove the double eyelid, just wash with your facial cleanser and a bit of water. Use makeup remover to get rid of any glue residue.
