5 New Makeup Hues to Try for Fall
5 New Makeup Hues to Try for Fall
Burgundy
While oxblood was the lip color last fall, this fall the maroon hue is dressing up lips, eyes, cheeks, and nails. For eyes, Kat Von D's shadow trio offers a range of merlot hues for buildable coverage. Or try a subtle accent, swiping on Make Up For Ever's wine eyeliner or brushing through lashes with the YSL mascara that delivers a hint of burgundy in the sunlight. As for the rest of the face, pair Marc Jacobs' mega-pigmented blush with Urban Decay's silky smooth lip liner that won't tug or skip and Tom Ford's shimmery cranberry lipstick. Just looking to dip your toes—or tips—into the color trend? Give the Nails Inc. polish a try. It dries with an impressive dome-like shine.

Copper
Although pennies may not be worth much alone, their luxe copper hue is in high demand this season. For eyes that shimmer, try the russet Estée Lauder trio of shadows all over lids, or accent them using YSL's daytime-friendly liner and Physicians Formula's two-in-one mascara. NYX's bronzed blush pairs perfectly with warm complexions—as does the Lipstick Queen lip color. And for those with cool skin tones, the matte (but not drying) pink-tinged Nars lipstick is an ideal fit.

Olive
Olive may be a classic must-have for fall, but this season's adaptations of the hue gain their edge by including touches of brown and gold. For shadow, look out for the well-edited palette of Dior pressed powders and the gorgeous Makeup Geek pigment with chunky sparkles. Chanel's new khaki eye pencil and YSL's understated army green mascara are not to be missed, either. For nails, Urban Decay's sage paint that's streaked with gunmetal and slate blue is perfect for evening, while those looking for the most office-friendly option (read: zero sparkles) should check out the creamy Prabal Gurung for Sally Hansen polish. (We especially love its flattened brush!)

Indigo
We were head over heels for the indigo shadow that models wore on Jason Wu's fall runway, which has us predicting that the blue-violet shade will be big all season long. To get the look, try the Jason Wu for Lancôme palette in Violet Streak, which features a pressed powder version of the pigment used on the catwalk. Or you can brush the Inglot pigment onto your lids or smudge the Nars pencil all around your eyes. Feeling more daring? Check out the iridescent Butter London mascara that's best worn just on the tips of lashes as an accent. Hands and feet can show off a violet touch, as well. For nails, the Zoya lacquer has a beautiful subtle shimmer or turn it up a notch with Deborah Lippmann's varnish that's chock-full of chunky light-reflecting glitter.

Holographic
Makeup that shifts and flashes in the light is the pièce de résistance for fall. Our favorite color-morphing shades for eyes? The Kat Von D shadow that fluctuates between brown and turquoise, the megawatt holographic silver Lime Crime loose glitter, and the blue-based Dolce & Gabbana liquid liner that contains a spectrum of shimmery specks. There are lustrous hues galore for lips and nails, as well. Inglot's rainbow gloss is a hypnotizing LED trip in a bottle with its polychromatic pigments, Lipstick Queen's maroon lip color leaves traces of teal glimmer, Deborah Lippmann's mutifaceted gold paint brims with color-flickering glitter, and Essie's enamel makes nails look like opalescent pink pearls.
