Before you book your next treatment, find out if your insurance company will pick up the tab. Many offer coverage of spa treatments to complement traditional medical therapy. Depending on your personal plan, massage and acupuncture may be completely covered. At the very least, you can indulge at a discount.
- GHI offers acupuncture and massage-therapy services at up to 25 percent off from participating providers.
- Cigna has a Healthy Rewards Program: 25 percent off massage therapy/acupuncture and 10 percent off at spas and mind/body treatments.
- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York's Aqua plan includes a $250 or $500 wellness card, which covers a number of treatments.
- Aetna offers some plans with a minimum of 25 percent off acupuncture, massage, and dietetic counseling in their provider network.
- UnitedHealth Group's HealthAllies program includes 10 to 50 percent off health and wellness products and services.
