Retail Therapy: Leather

Rough and tough leather isn't just for biker chicks anymore. From Alexander Wang to Calvin Klein, the fall 2011 runways saw lots of the formerly bad-girl fabric, now done up for stylish ladies. So, rev up your wardrobe, and find out how to make the trend work for your shape.

If You're Petite...

Take caution! While some leather styles (like skinny pants) look amazing on thinner frames, slender women always run the risk that their subtle curves will be completely bulldozed by the rigid fabric. To prevent your tiny bod from getting swallowed up by the heavy fabric, look for tailored pieces with well-placed seams or wrapping to give the illusion that your cowhide (or cowhide substitute) garb fits like a glove. A yoke halter, like this one from Ralph Lauren, is a curve-enhancing cut on all chest sizes, and the triangle design will also work to create an hourglass shape out of your boyish waist.
