Jennifer Merschdorf

In 2010 Jennifer Merschdorf's 66-year-old mother was diagnosed with breast cancer; then seven months later, at the age of 36, she was diagnosed as well. "We like to say we saved each other," says Merschdorf. "She was pretty down with the whole thing but once I was diagnosed she flew into mom mode: 'We're going to be fine. Everything is going to be fine.' And if she was never diagnosed, I wouldn't have ever even thought to look for a lump."

Today Merschdorf is the Chief Executive Officer of YSC and has been cancer free for two years. Her mission is to educate young women about breast cancer and help them become their own health advocates. "You must know your body, if something seems wrong, go to your doctor and don't let them send you home."
