When you flip through a magazine and see stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Courtney Cox, and others baring it all in a bikini you might sign their toned bods off to genetics and turn the page. But DNA has nothing to do with it, and often times is working against stars like these (and maybe even yourself) when it comes to losing weight. Tracy Anderson, founder of the Tracy Anderson 30-Day Method has dedicated her work to helping people change their body shape with customized plans specifically for their trouble areas. We did a quickie sweat session with Anderson to get the scoop on her method. See how it works below:

She's done her research. Anderson started researching her method years ago after meeting a doctor in Puerto Rico that could fix severe back issues but had trouble developing the rehabilitative moves for patients do at-home. Anderson helped him create moves to strengthen the back, which led to her quest to find out to do the same with the rest of the muscles in the body.

There's a plan for each body type. Anderson says even though your DNA determines your body shape, you can change it. Her workout plan, Metamorphosis, helps designate what type of body you have (i.e. where your body stores fat) and where to focus your muscle building and fat blasting efforts.

The plan takes dedication. Though the plan only requires exercising an hour a day, it sticks to a strict six day schedule. Eventually, clients that manage to stick to the plan (six days on, one day of rest) can steer off Anderson's recommended food plan without worrying about packing the pounds back on.

Anderson changes it up. The core to Anderson's method is that you're never stuck doing the same workout too many days in a row. Depending on the plan that’s been designed for your body, you'll do a circuit of arm and leg moves that tone both upper and lower body muscle groups at the same time. After ten days of the circuit, you'll move on to another circuit with completely different moves. Not only does this steer your muscles away from atrophying, your body is constantly changing from adjusting to new moves.
