Not sure how hard you're working out? Your workout can be divided into four pace levels: Easy, Moderate, Challenging, and Hard. But what's easy for one person can be hard for another - you may feel a burn after a brisk stroll, while it could take a near-jog to get your pal going. How to figure out your best-results speed? Talk as you're walking, and gauge how hard it is for you to speak. Then see where you score on the guide below.
PACE
EASY: The pace of your walk is so effortless, you can gab freely (no panting, no heaving).
MODERATE: You can still chat, but you need to pause occasionally to catch your breath.
CHALLENGING: You have no breath for small talk, but you can still manage short sentences.
HARD: You can get out a "yes," "no," or "maybe." But you really can't talk right now!
Use these as a barometer the next time you're working out to see if you are challenging yourself hard enough.
