How do I get rid of fear? It is hard for me to meet new people and try new things when I feel a lot of fear inside.
Have you ever noticed that fear rarely takes place in present time? It is usually connected to something that has already happened or something that may occur in the future. Fear is always connected to a thought, memory, feeling or word unless we are in immediate danger. It is important for us to observe fear with loving detachment. The idea is to accept that there will be times when we will feel afraid. The key is not to fight it or try to overpower it but to step forward. It is the understanding that you may feel afraid but that you are going to do what you have to do anyway.
Fear can easily keep us from new life and wonderful opportunities. Fear is at home with isolation and scarcity. You may want to practice meditation since meditation reminds us of our perfection and encourages trust and courage. Breathing deeply and focusing on the exhale also helps calm our nerves. Many people breathe in but forget to breathe out which makes us feel anxious. Another trick is to make sure that you are standing equally on both of your feet. That will help you feel more stable and secure. Fear is a natural part of life. Once we accept that and know that we will do what we have to do anyway it loses its hold.
