BOOST LIMP LOCKS
How-to: Wrap one-inch sections of hair around hot rollers, securing about an inch from the scalp, says Damien Miano, co-owner of New York's Miano Viel Salon. Once the curlers have cooled, remove and gently break up the curls with your fingers. Finish with a light misting of hairspray.
Try: Electric rollers

SMOOTH STRINGINESS
How-to: Pull one inch-wide sections of hair through a ceramic flatiron, which creates more shine than a traditional iron. (For shorter hair, use an iron with plates no wider than an inch, says Miano.) Finish by running a shine serum such as Kiehl's Silk Groom Serum over the hair's top layer.
Try: Ceramic flatiron

FLATTEN FRIZZ
How-to: Create lustrous waves by dampening your hair, then smoothing it with a dryer and a round brush, says Miano. Once it's straight, use a large curling iron to create loose spirals at your ends. For best results, alternate the curls' directions: Twist one toward your face, the next away from it.
Try: Hair dryer plus a large-barrel curling iron

DISGUISE DAMAGE
How-to: Grab two-inch-wide sections of hair midshaft with a flatiron that has rounded plates. Quickly drag the iron to the ends, slightly turning your wrist as you go (much as you would curl a ribbon on a present), says Miano. This will give the hair a slightly tousled, wavy effect which minimizes the look of frazzled ends.
Try: Ceramic flatiron with rounded plates
MC recommends: 3/4" T3 Tourmaline Ceramic Iron with rounded ionic
