"Since fourth grade, a side pony has been my go-to 'do. It's grown up as I have and is now a chic style staple I rock to work, weekends, and nights out. My favorite way to wear it is a little undone."

René Furterer Naturia Dry Shampoo

"Ponys start out best with dirty hair, but because my hair is so dark it tends to look very oily when dirty. I use a few sprays of this dry shampoo to clean it up, dry it out, and help add some crazy hold to my hair."

Teasing Comb

"The mane (ha-ha) thing when making a perfect pony is to get some height. A simple teasing comb you can find at any drugstore adds incredible volume. Overdo it a little so you have something to work with, and go first for the crown. Then, I do a light tease all over my head. I'm from the South, so I love big hair!"

Hairbrush

"So here's the secret weapon: your hairbrush. After you've teased your hair (you should now look like Elvira), gently brush back on it to get an allover smoothness and the perfect balance between full and sleek."

Perfect Ponytail

"Pull your hair into a pony — I like mine best low and to the side. Tighten it as much as possible to secure and, for a more relaxed look, fluff the hair right at your hairline to make it a little softer. Spray on some hairspray for hold and test it by dancing the night away! For intense dancers or girls who glisten and like to keep their hair off their back, try tucking the ends in to create a messy bun."
