Ellen Barkin's Sleek, Sideswept Bob
"This is a short style that still has a lot of movement, which makes it sexy," says Serge Normant, global creative director of John Frieda and Ellen Barkin's mane man.
Step one: "Shampoo and condition with products that rinse clean," says Normant. "If you have really thin hair, condition just the ends." Try Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine Shampoo ($3.99). "Next, apply a volumizer to the roots and a silicone product to the ends," says Normant. Try John Frieda Sheer Blonde Volumizing Spray ($5.99) and John Frieda Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Serum ($9.99).
Step two: Give hair an uneven side part, and use a medium round brush to blow-dry. "The key is to make sure the ends are dead straight, not curled under," Normant explains. "One way to achieve this is to blow-dry toward the front. Finally, style the shortest layer of hair so that it's swept across the forehead, which will give it a sexy edge."
Step three: "If you need more sharpness, flat-iron just the ends," he says. Finish with a high-shine hair spray.
