BEST: Twisted Updo

This intricate, twisted-spiral updo seen on the Badgley Mischka runway is a fun, different way to style your hair. To get a similar look, pull hair half-up and secure with an elastic. Take the unsecured hair and separate into three or four sections, twisting each the length of your hair, then up into your half-up 'do, crossing over other sections. Secure with bobby pins around the elastic for hold. Mist with a firm-holding hair spray to finish off.

WORST: Greasy Strands

Is it just us, or does it look like this model hasn't had a shower in about a month? Never underestimate the importance of dry shampoo.

BEST: Double Fishtail Braids

This braid with a twist is not only cool to look at but, if done right, will stay in place all night. You can weave it tightly for a neater look, or braid it loosely with two tiny fishtails like the ones the Doo Ri models sported. Start by learning how to conquer the fishtail here.

WORST: Unkempt

We're not saying your hair is expected to stay picture-perfect throughout the day, but it should look brushed. There's a fine line between sex hair and bed head.

BEST: Soft and Sophisticated

When we think of Vera Wang, we think pretty and sophisticated. Get a soft style like this by doing a loose French twist, but twist your ponytail before rolling it for added curl. Backcomb gently at the crown for some texture in the front.

WORST: Hair Accessories Gone Bad

Let us clarify: We said hair accessories were good, but this would be the exception. Let's stick to faux flowers and sparkly barrettes, okay?

BEST: Farrah Fawcett Waves

These gorgeous waves at Oscar de la Renta will never go out of style. To be your own iconic Fawcett, Pantene celebrity hairstylist Danilo recommends separating dry hair into two-inch sections and spritzing with hair spray before wrapping it in a tight spiral pattern around a curling iron. Start with your iron at the crown and wrap hair around it to get fuller curls. Alternate which way you wrap your hair around the barrel to create a more natural look.

WORST: Hairnets

This hairstyle is like an optical illusion. It took us several seconds of intense staring to determine that yes, that is a hairnet.

BEST: Teased Ponytail

There is no better way to pump up your average ponytail than with a good teasing. Pull hair back and wrap a one-inch section around the elastic to achieve the wrapped-around look. Next, backcomb at the crown and heavily in the ponytail to get texture and edgy volume.

Try one of these ponytails next.

WORST: Bad Dye Jobs

Regardless of the fact that her roots are showing (which is an understatement), the purple-hair trend doesn’t seem to be sticking around longer than five minutes for anyone. Not Kelly Osbourne and not you, gorgeous model with a bad dye job. Keep the purple in your palettes this season and off your head.
