Permanently Coloring Relaxed Hair
BE CAREFUL! Permanent hair color can be a very intense chemical process. If your hair has already been subjected to a chemical relaxer and you use a permanent hair color on it you run the risk of damaging your hair if you don't know what you are doing. Your relaxed hair has to be extremely healthy, not breaking or excessively shedding. Use a permanent hair color that addresses the needs of relaxed hair, with extra conditioning agents and buffers. Always do a strand and patch test first.
If you have any concerns or doubts, have your permanent hair color done by a licensed hairstylist who specializes in color. If you are coloring your hair yourself and are not a licensed professional, DO NOT try to be fabulous and use a professional color formulation.
Stick to the home coloring box kits. They are designed for consumers and have instructions and usually a help line for questions. Professional hair-coloring products are for professionals who understand the color wheel and the chemistry involved in the hair-coloring process.
