The Queen Latifah Ponytail

Style on the Side

This spring, side ponytails are hot. The side ponytail is not as severe as the ponytail done straight back. It's softer and offers a face-framing look with hair around the side of the face.

How to Get the Look:

1: Shampoo and condition the hair.

2: Blow the hair dry.

3: If necessary, flat-iron the hair straight.

4: Apply hair crème, brush, and secure the hair at the side with a covered elastic.

The Diva's Ponytail

Section the hair in two parts. Use a curling iron to create large waves in the top section. Clamp a section with the curling iron and use a comb to shift the loose hair over to the right. Move the curling iron down and repeat this process; shift the unclamped section of the hair to the left. Use large clips to set the waves. Pick the rest of the hair up to the crown and secure with a covered elastic. Create soft flips in the loose hair with a flatiron. Spritz for hold.

Romantic Back-Sweeps

Tyra is taking over with this wonderful hairstyle that's just perfect for spring. This style works well because although it's long, the hair is controlled. The sides of the hair are swept back while the rest of the hair is done in a bevy of beautiful curls. Get this style with medium to long shampooed and conditioned hair. Bevel the loose hair with a large curling iron. Secure the sides back with bobby pins and arrange the rest of the curled hair with the end of a tail comb. As you lift the hair spritz the root area with a holding spray to give the style more lift and volume.

Swept Back with a Little Extra Flair

Flat twists add something special to this back-sweep.

1. Section the hair back from the hairline.

2. Add a light gel and flat-twist each section back to the crown area; secure the ends with hairpins.

3. Spiral-curl the loose hair with a curling iron or secure on a curly hairpiece.
