Valentine's Day Style Tips

by Catherine Mendez

Having trouble deciding what to wear for Valentine’s Day? Stress no more! We caught up with David Zyla, Emmy-Award winning stylist, and author of Color Your Style: How To Wear Your True Colors, to get some tips on how to find the perfect date night outfit.

Don’t wait till the last minute. Throughout the year, no matter what the season, if you see an outfit on clearance in your color and size, GRAB IT! Usually, when people are shopping for something specific, they won’t find it. So shop ahead of time to ensure you find what want.

Set aside time to shop. We all know that shopping can be stressful. "Give yourself a good chunk of time to peruse. Rushing will get you nowhere, especially if you are looking in a brick and mortar store," advices Zyla.

Repeat your triumphs. "Let’s say you have a dress or pantsuit that you look and feel perfect in—people compliment you left and right—there is no harm in copying that success," says Zyla. "Look at the manufacturer and see what they are doing this season—if it worked before, it will most certainly work again!"

Bring your accessories along. Before you leave the house, don’t forget to grab the shoes, under garments, and jewelry you plan on wearing. This will help you see the full end-result ahead of time, so you aren’t scrambling at the last minute.

Have your makeup figured out. Once you find your outfit, Zyla recommends sitting down and doing a few trial styling runs with your cosmetics. This will help give you get full look, so it’s not a surprise when you’re getting ready.

Shop till you drop ladies!
